A monument for people who stutter, made of oil-painted linen stretched on handmade steel frames. The larger structure measures 450 cm in diameter, while the smaller one measures 400 cm. The installation depicts two stuttering neutron stars in the moment before they collide, creating an explosion of enormous power.
Stuttering neutron stars are fast-spinning remnants of regular stars whose rotation becomes irregular for a variety of reasons. Their merger produces elements that would not exist otherwise.
The little birds are zebra finches, songbirds known for their tendency to stutter. About 30% of zebra finches stutter in their songs.
